LEARN ABOUT SURVIVAL KNIFE BLADE TYPES

When choosing a survival knife, it is important to understand the advantages and disadvantages of different blade shapes. Some forms of blades are more suited to combat, while others will be much more useful if you are stuck in the desert.
Our main goal at Survival Knife Experts is to help you prepare for wilderness survival situations, so I'm going to share with you my thoughts on the best blade shape for this situation.
Avoid double-edged cutting edge blades
A true lance blade has two sharp edges - one on the top and one on the bottom. However, some blades are called spear points that have a similar shape, while having only one sharp edge. These one-edged "spearhead" blades are not what I'm talking about here.
In my opinion, double-edged cutting edge blades are more suited to the combat situation than wilderness survival because they are designed to be used for attack.
Why should you avoid a double-edged spear point? Well, having a sharp edge on the top of your blade can be a disadvantage in a survival situation. On the one hand, a sharp upper edge can make the beat impossible, which is often a vital use of a survival knife.
On the other hand, you will often hold your thumb against the back edge of your blade for leverage and control while using your knife in a survival situation (for things like delicate carving or small game), and having a Sharp edge on the top of your blade can make using your thumb this way dangerous or impossible.
Tanto blades as survival knives
Tantos are technically combated knives, but they are much better suited to a survival situation than a double-edged sharp-edged blade. Tantos are usually thick and strong at the tip, which makes them good for stabbing and piercing. The sharp tip also makes them suitable for prying.
Tantos have no belly (curved edge), which makes them less useful for slicing and flaying game.
In my opinion, tantos are a good option as survival knives, but it really depends on what you like and what you find most useful.
What about Bowie survival knives (Clip Point)?
Opinions are divided as to whether spiked knives (commonly known as Bowie knives) are good survival knives. The truth is that there are advantages and disadvantages and that it is really up to you.
If you are going with a Bowie survival knife, make sure the clip point is not too drastic (too much of curvy tipis). A particularly curved tip can break more easily when used for threshing or other tasks that involve indiscretion or hashing. The curved tip is designed to stab, keep this in mind.
The curve of the blade can be useful for the skinning game.
Quest result: A Bowie blade (attachment point) is a good survival knife - do not get a blade with an extremely curved tip or it may break under impact.
Drop Point Blades (my favorite survival knife blade)

All things considered, drop-point blades are the most versatile and most useful in a wilderness survival situation. A drop point blade has a right back edge, which is perfect for the beat. It has a sharp, pointed tip, useful for stabbing, prying, delicate carving, nicking, and many other tasks that you will have to deal with in a wilderness survival situation.
